Thank you Ed - very interesting news. Perhaps another piece of the jigsaw. I'll have to see where it leads. You mentioned Butts Hollow -- my elusive relative Wm. married Mary (Mollie) Butts - and supposedly she was also from NY. Perhaps the nearby area was named for someone in her family? Or that could be a just a huge coincidence, as it appears her immediate family was all from CT. Still nothing concrete to connect my Porter line to any of the NY Porters found so far.
