Thank you Frank. The 1908, Bellingham Record of Birth's that I used to establish the birth dates for Isaac & Susannah Thayer Johnson's children reports Nehemiah was born 1952 so it's just a frame of reference for us both at this point.

The Ezekiel Johnson, born 1950 in Bellingham is believed to be the father of the child born to Bethia Garnzey, Uxbridge, who gave birth out of wedlock Jan. 12, 1773. The reason why I'm researching that Ezekiel's line is that the Johnson family lore had it he was killed in the revolutionary war but I've yet to find a death record. The fact that you say he went on to marry interest's me greatly. What is the marriage date?

It is in several court records for Uxbridge and Douglass, Mass that Bethia named her son after the father. Since father's of bastard children weren't officially named due to observance to the law of primogeniture, but the records stated the son was named for the father, the probability is extremely high that the father was one Ezekiel Johnson.

Also, the bastard son, Ezekiel Jr., stayed in Uxbridge until his late 20's when an Uxbridge intention to marry was announced for one Julia Hills. Somehow this doesn't match with a shamefull birth from an unknown father. Ezekiel's and Julia's children were fairly prominent in the Mormon church through the 1900's so the family records are extensive.

Since Bellingham is literally over the hill from Uxbridge it's highly likely that the Ezekiel, born 1750, and son of Isaac and Susannah was the father to Ezekiel born Jan. 12, 1773.

I have been trying to find records of Ezekiel Sr. where-about's after the war but from what you're telling me I've been looking (tediously) through records in the wrong state (Mass).

Is the Thayer marriage record you reference (in the Thayer memorial) and the subsequent link to the Bellingham Ezekiel an actual town/court/legal filing such as an intention to marry or an actual vital record marriage listing?

Thanks so much for helping me to understand this link.
