Asa Ransom, born 1765 in CT, was first white settler in NY west of Genesee
River (1796). Brothers Amasa and Elias joined him soon thereafter as
pioneers of Erie Co. He is buried in Ransom's Grove NY in the town of
Clarence
Death reported in Geneva Gazette 1 Apr 1835 - Bowman, VR Central NY p196
Asa Ransom House inn and restaurant are in Clarence NY. Bio sketch in Publ
of the Buffalo Histor Soc 26:323-325, 1922. Oneta Baker, History of the Town
