I would suggest you try to meet Linda Koehler on a Tuesday at the Family
History Center. She knows what the library holdings are and is so knowledgeable.
She is usually at the center on Tuesdays. When I was in Poughkeepsie I found
that the Local History in the Adriance Library had a wealth of info.
Unfortunately, the Adriance is short handed and you need an appointment to access the
upstairs room. They do have a local history room on the first floor, all the
old Poughkeepsie Newspapers on film etc. One of the great spots to visit is
the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery. Founded in 1851 it has many of the local
citizens interred there. The office staff is most willing to help you locate a
grave. They are a very busy office so have explicit questions. Good hunting.
