Ginny,
I went to your How You Can Help page, but you've set it up so I cannot
access or send e-mail. (something to do with the stupid Netscape I use - it
always says it cannot send e-mail because it doesn't have my address,
probably because I do not use it, but Eudora for e-mail). I've written a
letter to the County Executive, but cannot send it with no e-mail
address. I'll copy it and snail mail it, since you did give that address,
but what about the Legislature?
I live in CA, but here's part of what I said:
I am planning a trip East in September, courtesy of my children, and am
hoping to research my families (maternal and paternal) in Dutchess
County. By going there, I will bring money into Dutchess County coffers
(as do all genealogists) paying for motels, food and other items of
interest in Dutchess.
As a civilized nation, our history, our archives, and places to research
them are extremely important and must be preserved and accessible to the
public. Dutchess County played an important part in the birth of this
country, and we need to look at our past to ensure that our future will be
better.
