I am looking for info on the family of John A. Sweet Sr and/or his
wife Mary Albro, both of whom I believe emigrated from Dutchess to
Coeymans, Albany, NY. about 1800/1810. I have data showing that he
emigrated in about 1815, from Coeymans to Paris,
Oneida NY, and then to Madison County after 1820. John Sr was
a witness at the 1810 NYC marriage of his son John Jr to Elizabeth
Thurston of Coeymans, Albany County, so we know there was a Sweet Sr and Jr.
.The 1820 Federal census shows a John
A. Sweet's family, in Paris NY with a much older
male and female member. I believe that these two older people were John A.
Sweet (Sr) and wife Mary Albro, from Dutchess County, NY, via Coeymans, Ny.
The 1830 Federal census shows a John A. Sweet family (without the two
older Sweet family members) in Stockbridge/Smithfield, Madison, NY. Various
internet family histories say John Sr. and wife Mary Albro died in Madison
County
in mid 1830's
The tie between John A Sweet Jr., and John Sweet/Mary Albro, has not been
substantiated by me. I am convinced that tie is real, but I cannot find any
records showing the death of these two older Sweets in Madison County.
I have good info on John A. Sweet Jr and son's subsequent life in Lawrence,
Van Buren, Michigan, but am unable to tie him or his father John Sr and
mother Mary Albro, back to
Dutchess
County, NY, and to East Greenwich, RI, where various histories have credited
John Sr as being born. 1790 Census reports do show an John Sweet family
right next to an Albro family in Beekman,Dutchess county.
In summary: I am trying to tie John Sweet Sr/Mary Albro's residence/deaths
to Madison County, and I am trying to tie them back to Dutchess County, NY.
Any help you all can provide will be greatly appreciated. I am willing to
share my data with any interested parties.
