Subject: Letters Question - Fort Pre. Rev. Homestead - Important
Date: Sat, 03 Jul 2004 19:56:54 -0400
Hello Friends and Supporters,
On Friday, July 2, 2004 I put in a Freeedom of Information (FOIL) request
with the Town of Poughkeepsie and asked to review the Supervisor's File on
Correspondence Regarding Designating the Fort Homestead as a Historic
Landmark in the Town.
I did this so I would know what letters there were and in order that I
could, at the hearing on July 7th determine whether or not any mention of
letters in support of the designation were placed in the Public Record or if
they might have just "disappeared".
There were only two letters in the file in this regard and I am NOT sending
this e-mail to Linda H. and DCHS because those were the two letters/e-mail
that were in the file.
I am writing to you all now so I can determine if any of you sent letters
and if so, I will seek further as to what file they may be held in with the
town offices or if indeed they did "disappear". If such be the case I would
ask that you e-mail me copies of your letters that you sent and I will do my
best to see that they get read into the Public Record at the hearing on July
7.
Please know that this correspondence is not to ask for letters but merely to
confirm if you sent a letter and if so, to please see that I get a copy to,
if possible, be read into the public record at the July 7, 2004 Public
Hearing.
Of course, letters are still welcome but they may not reach the Town on Time
by U S. Mail. Therefore I would ask if you plan on writing to do so by
e-mail to
with a subject such as "Please Designate the Fort House a Historical
Landmark"
and please bcc: me
On a side note if you have petitions and are coming to the JULY 7th meeting,
please make two copies of the signed petition and bring to the meeting along
with the original and see that I get them prior to the meeting. I will be
there early. If you will not be able to come to the meeting please call me
and let me know and I will arrange to get the signed petition from you, copy
it and bring it with me to the meeting.
Thanks in Advance!
Together We WILL Make a Difference!
