Poughkeepsie Journal
Wednesday Morning March 30, 1842
------------------------------------
ANOTHER PATRIOT GONE

At his residence, in the town of Beekman, March 23d THOMAS MARTIN, aged 92
years. The deceased, the writer is informed, was a native of this county in
which he spent nearly the whole of his life. He was ever an active,
industrious man, and the general health and unusual activity which he
retained till within two days of his death, flattered his friends that he
might be spared to them yet many years. But death knocked at his door and
hastened his departure. Thus has one country lost another veteran of the
revolution whose invincible spirit of patriotism and earnest attachment to
liberty never forsook him, and whose solicitude for Freedom's institutions
followed him to the grave. "God be with us, as he was with our Fathers"
