I have a copy of a deed dated 7/9/1774 into one of my ancestors (I think!) and it describes him as "Richard Peters, of Philipsburg, The County of Dutches Blacksmith". I have seen references to a Philpse Manor & Philipsburg in Westchester County. Did the county lines change since 1774? I have also seen a reference to Philipstown in Dutchess... is this the same place?

Could anyone point me to a history of Philipsburg?
