The People of the State of New York by the grace of God free and
independent:
To Eli KETCHAM and Samuel SMITH of the Town of Beekman Dutchess County State
aforesaid send Greeting:
Whereas Losee KETCHAM late of the Town of Paulings in the County of Dutchess
deceased as is alleged [sic] lately died intestate leaving six children the
eldest named Elias KETCHAM, who was twenty years of age on the twenty third
day of October last past, Jonathan KETCHAM who was eighteen years of age on
the twenty second of February last past, Joseph KETCHAM who was sixteen
years of age on the sixteenth day of October last past, James KETCHAM, who
was fourteen years of age on the twenty fifth day of August last past, Rhoda
KETCHAM who was eleven years of age on the ninth day of November last past,
Sally KETCHAM who was seven years of age on the third day of August last
past, and having whilst he lived and at the time of his death goods chattles
[sic] and credits with this State by means whereof the ordering and granting
administration of all and singular the said goods chattles [sic] an credits;
and also the auditing allowing and final discharging the account thereof
doth belong unto us; and we being desirous that the good chattles [sic] and
credits of the said deceased may be well and faithfully administered applied
and disposed of according to law: DO GRANT unto the said Eli KETCHAM and
Samuel SMITH full power by these presents to administer and faithfully
dispose of all and singular the said goods chattles [sic] and credits of the
said Losee KETCHAM deceased, to use and advantage of the said Elias KETCHAM,
Jonathan KETCHAM, Joseph KETCHAM, James KETCHAM, Rhoda KETCHAM and Sally
KETCHAM children and infants aforesaid during their minority and not
otherwise, and to ask demand sue for and recover and receive the debts which
unto the said deceased, whilst living and at the time of his death did
belong. And to pay the debts which the said deceased did owe, so far as
such goods chattles [sic] and credits with thereunto extend and the Law
requires you. Hereby required you to make or cause to be made a true and
perfect inventory of all and singular the said goods chattles [sic] and
credits of the said deceased, which have or shall come to your hands
possession or knowledge, and the same so made to exhibit or cause to be
exhibited unto the office of the surrogate of the said county of Dutchess at
or before the expiration of six calendr[sic] months from the date hereof and
also to render a just and true account of administration when thereunto
required. An We Do by these presents deprite [sic-?] constitute and appoint
you the said Eli KETCHAM and Samuel SMITH, administrators of all and
singular the goods, chattles [sic] and credits, which were of the said Losee
KETCHAM, until one of the said six children and infants above named shall
attain to the age of twenty one years, and the said Administration to you
the said Eli KETCHAM and Samuel SMITH, we do not in any other wise commit.
In Testimony whereof, we have caused the seal of the office of our said
Surrogate to be hereunto affixed - -
