Hi Bob,
NOT AT ALL UNCOMMON for "eldest" sons to have made the same move!! I do
have a couple of those in my tree as well!! It's my belief that mine made the
move because their fathers were still fairly young men.... in one instance,
it was another 30 years after the eldest son left before his father gave up
farming and turned everything over to his second son, who had built a home on
the family farm and raised his family there, while working with his father on
the family farm.
