North Hector is the old name for the hamlet now known as Valois. It is in
present day Schuyler County.

> L- I think the key fact for me in your email is that Hector was taken from
Ovid in 1802. Someone else told me that North Hector was in Seneca on
Seneca Lake. He said that people were mixed up about it all in the early
1800s. My problem is that a Philip Lefler and wife came to North Hector or
Ovid abt 1818, and further that my John and Christopher Lefler came to what
they called Ulysses about 1821-1824. But they must have been in the same
place because Christopher and Philip were either brothers or first
cousins( by dna testing). I can't find any records to help me be more
precise. But they must have lived together! Thank you for your help on that

> PS- My families were also in or near Bennettsburg and
Meckinburg--Stilwell, Carley, Lefler, Gould. And my 3ggrandmother was
Chestina Treman d/o Jared of Lot 8(1808). Chestina and husband James Carley
lived in Jacksonville and Willow Creek(1817). Anything you can add would be
appreciated!
