My great great grandfather was G. W.(Gustave Wilhelm) Apel of Owensboro, Kentucky. He was born June 23, 1836. He fought in the Civil War for the Confederacy. He was a captain but I don't know which state and regiment. After the war he returned to Owensboro, Kentucky and ran a pharmacy.
He was married to Rosina who was born on February 28, 1848. They had four children.

I am desperately tryting to find out about his Civil War service. I inherited all of his military things when I was a child but there was nothing other than a reunion type photo of him in uniform and some Confederate reunion buttons, etc.

Can you help me????
