I have recently found my family in the 1880 census. It was a huge step for me bacause I discovered the name of my Great, Great Grandmother. Unfortunately it listed her as widowed. In that same census, it lists members of the family that were born prior to 1880 in NY, and I have a record in my family Bible that one of the children (Conrad) was born in 1869 on Grand St. Being that the listing from 1880 was also on Grand street, I assumed that I would be able to find these family members in the 1870 census for sure and maybe the 1860 one as well. Unfortunately when I search on my surname (soundex search also) none of the names that it turns up match. I really would like to find another listing for my family in either the 1870 or 1860. This would provide me with my Great Great Grandfathers name. This is very important to me. This is the information that I have from the 1880 Census:
ED 130 image 53 of 77
Margret Winter (head of Household) 48 Born in Byen
Earnst, son 22 born in NY
John, son 20 Born in NY
Lizzie, Daughter 15 born in NY
Conrad, son 10 born in NY
Lorenzo, son 6 born in NY
((it also mentions that their father is from Baden))
Any assistance and guidance in this matter would be greatly appreciated. I have come so far!!!!
Thank you in advance,
Jack
