Worth Street is not very helpful, there is no research facility such as at the Municipal Archives. They are also prohibited by law to divulge information except to the individual involved or their descendents. The a list of the holdings of the archives is available at:

http://www.nyc.gov/html/records/home.html

There are two libraries with Newspaper Collections, they are:

The main branch of the New York Library at 42nd Street and 5th Avenue in Manhattan which also has some State Census information. The drawback is that you need addresses for the people involved since there is no index. In addition they have a large collection of Genealogical Books etc.

The main branch of the Brooklyn Public Library at Flatbush Avenue & Eastern Parkway (Grand Army Plaza) has a large collection of Newspapers with Brooklyn Circulation.

I should warn you that at one time there were quite a few Newspapers published in New York City and any information you want could be in any one of them.

In addition, the New York Genealogical Society and the Brooklyn Historic Society have collections of City Directories etc.

There is also a branch of NARA with National Censuses and Some Naturalization Records.

If any specific question occurs to you, please let me know.

Bob
