Hello Gerry
Ellen Hanratty is the sister of my great grandfather Simon Kinsella 1864-1910. To cut a long story short. Simon ended up in New York ( a widower) and Married Margaret Casey in st Pats Cathedral ny.
Ellen was a widow ( Carey) and married Edward Hanratty in 1891.in Liverpool. They came to New York and stayed with a Joseph paul ( born Dublin1867). Joseph Paul is down as "brother in law"
Joseph Paul was a "foundling" found on the steps of st pauls church in Dublin but the family believes that he was an illigitimate baby of one of the Kinsella girls. He was treated as a "brother" by the kinsellas and was a godfather to many kinsella babies. so it is intrigiuing that Edward hanratty put him down as a "brother in Law"
Ellen had a daughter Frances ( Carey)b1888 who took the name hanratty when her mother married edward hanratty.
Frances married an Edward gribbin and had Marie b1919, Frances b1920 and edward jnr b 1922
I have a photo of the family. On the back is written 1313 prospect pl nyc/
I believe that the older lady is Ellen kinsella hanratty, the others being Frances Gibbin and one of her daughters. Have you ever seen this photo before.
My real quest is to find the link between ellen kinsella, her brother simon Kinsella and Joseph paul. I am in touch with Mary alice who is the grandaughter of Joseph Paul and lives in New Hampshire. Frances hanratty born 1886 was the godmother to Mary alices father. so we are convinced that therei s a family link.
When Joseph Paul and Simon Kinsella first came america they both lived in Jersey City.
Any info would be greatly appreciated. I have lots of info and pictures of the kinsella family and research going back to 1780s.
I look forward to hearing from you
Mary.
I will send you the photo if you let me have another email address
