Please refer to the below web site as to where you can send for a Brooklyn death search. It is very hit and miss if there will be any official record for deaths that early. Some were recorded, some were not. I have been looking for a death record on an ancestor from 1878 who died in NYC and have had no luck.
There is no index for years before 1866. The years you are interested in will not have an individual certificate, rather they will be listed in ledger format (no use if you are looking for parental info.) Here is a quote from the NYC archives web site regarding same:
"Manhattan and Brooklyn deaths prior to 1866 were recorded in ledger book format; the following information was recorded: date of death, decedent's name, age, residence and nativity; cause of death, burial place and name of medical attendant. "
Here is the link to the web site that you may inquire about a death search.

Good luck in your search,
Janet
