Message Board Post:

I found Thomas HADLEY and Frances A. "Fannie" with their eight children from 1880-1930 in New York City. Thomas was still alive in 1930, but he was widowed between 1910-1920. I couldn't find anything earlier when Thomas and Fannie were single, so no parents' names found.

I did find possible death records for this couple:
Thomas H.HADLEY, age 85 years, died 24 Dec 1934, Bronx Co. (certificate# 11044)

Frances A. HADLEY, age 63 yrs., died 4 March 1916, Kings Co. (cert # 5289)

Please see the Death Index the Brooklyn GenWeb website. Ordering the death certs, which can be done by mail or online, will cost you $10.00 at the Municipal Archives, NYC website. The death cert may give you birthplace info for Thomas and Fannie, and possibly their parents' names.

To find an exact birthplace in New York for Thomas, and you have a father's name, try the 1855 New York STATE census, which can be ordered on microfilm from the Family History centers all over the county. One of the great questions it asks is: "In what county of this place, or what other state were you born" I found a lot of my Brooklyn Irish guys living in Essex County, NY that way. The area was so Irish, it was called Irishtown!
