Hello! Thank you dear dear friends for reading this...seriously! I'm so stuck at a brick wall it's not even funny. Okay, so here's the deal- looking for Mathew Quirk's most likely death in Brooklyn between 1870 and 1880. Born @1820 in Ireland. Last address in 1870 was Brooklyn, Ward 5- 35 yrs old, lived with wife Margaret, daughters Mary, Jennie, Margarate and son Thomas. (Pages 426 & 427 of 1870 Census screens for this ward on ancestry.com). By 1880, it appears that entire family is split up all over New York state with the father M.I.A. (Not 100% sure it's the same kids but looks quite convincing.) I went through the Brooklyn Eagle site for obits/news anything for Quirks and couldnt' find a match and the ItalGen sites info doesnt go that far back for death records. So if someone has access to directories and/or death records could you please check to see if you can spot any new information that may help me out! Oh- and he was previously a Porter in Manhattan and then owned!
a liqour/food store in 1860 Brooklyn. So he wasn't a sailor or anything like that... thank you thank you thank you!! -mike
