Subject: [NYKINGS] John HUTCHINSON from MA arr. Brooklyn, 1860
Date: Sun, 6 Jul 2008 11:44:07 -0400
Hello,
I have just joined this List. I am trying to find out if there are any
descendants of John B. HUTCHINSON and his 2 married sisters, still living in
Brooklyn, or in Kings County. I am trying to find out more specifically
if there are any male descendants still living - who would be descended from
Thomas and Betsey (HOMER) HUTCHFINSON living on the large HUTCHINSON Farm in
Winchester, MA.
The 2 married sisters were: William and Elizabeth DODGE and Gardner and
Adeline SYMMES, who might have arrived in Brooklyn, first. The 3 couples
seem to have been merchants or wholesale dealers in Brooklyn for most of the
1850 to 1900 timeframe.
I can find some information about the couples in census information, but
only from 1860 to 1880. There could have been 2 sons of John still living
in Brooklyn in 1900: Edward and Effie HUTCHINSON, with a son, John B.,
Age 20. And, possibly John W. and Gertrude HUTCHINSON. (I don't know if
they had children.)
John and Ruthy (WYMAN) HUTCHINSON were 65 and 64 and were alive in the 1880
census. (I sure wish the 1890 census was available.) I cannot find them
in the 1900 census. I suppose they could have died during the 1890's.
Thank you for your time.

FYI: I've belonged to the Brooklyn List for at least 4 years. I have
posted queries there on this family, and about my EX's extended family
which lived in the Bay Ridge neighborhood from about 1900 to about 1970.
