I think there may have been a Crogan family who lived once in the area,
but the history books say it was named for George Croghan.
Each year we get visitors whose surnames are Croghan that visit the
area. One told me that there seems to be two Croghan families who came
to the US, his was not that of George Croghan and he said he was of
Irish descent.
