Hi list, this is a call for help, to find a church where records of German
born ancestors might have attended, so I can write to see if records are
there.
The NY 1855 census lists Margaret Berg and John Moyer family and 5 (later 7)
children, Margaret N. Moyer, later Stetsil, John Moyer, Adam Moyer, Barbara
A. Moyer (later Frederick and Hazel Moyer Avery (John). This would be the
town of Lenox, Madison Co. NY.
Germany as place of birth of the parents, and what church would they
normally belong to?
John's obit lists Rev.Harold W. Hebblethwaite officiating in Canastota bur
in Mt. Pleasant. John married in Methodist Episcopal Church, his wife Alice
E. Baldwin.
and Frederick's obit in Fulton with Rev. R. W. Anthony buried in Mt. Adnah.
His wife Mary Elizabeth Carr, a Catholic. I cannot locate an obit for
Hazel, in Syracuse, NY.
What religion would a German born be, from Hesse Darmstadt and would there
have been a church in 1855 that they would attend? Any thoughts on this
would be appreciated. I see some are Evangelists.
