Subject: My Monroe surnames

Hi everyone!
My surnames for monroe are Backus and Jackson from 1879 to 1906. These
families lived in that area all that time. Nerilla Backus was from Calcutta
East India and somehow immigrated over there. Family tradition says he and a
brother had brought an ox with a foot coming out of its chest, over with
them and were part of a circus until the ox killed someone. They say the ox
was stuffed and displyed in Rochester somewhere but I have yet to confirm
that. He took the name of Backus due to a Backus that befriended him. But
there is more to that story than is not publicly known. Thanks for the new
list.
Lori Backus
