Hi:
Just returned home from a Genealogical Conference in Pasadena, CA to see the
questions about Scottsville. I can add a little since his wife's family is
intertwined with mine.
Isaac Scott [for whom Scottsville was named], was born about 1744, probably
in Westmoreland, Cheshire, NH, married Lydia Chamberlain, born about the same
time in Westmoreland, NH, January 07, 1768. The marriage was probably in
Westmoreland since Lydia's family was prominent in Westmoreland.
Lydia was the second child of Henry and Susanna [Hinds] Chamberlain. The
10th child in this same family was Abigail Chamberlain who married my ggg
grandfather Job Britton, a Revolutionary War soldier wounded at Bunker Hill.
Giles Chamberlain, the 6th child of Henry and Susanna is listed as sometime
of Scottsville, later of Leroy, Genesee, NY. Hinds Chamberlain, the 7th
child of Henry and Susanna moved to Scottsville and married the widow of
Malcolm McLaren. [Source: "The History & Genealogy of Westmoreland, NH", page
