Subject: Looking for vitals in Monroe Co. bef. Civil War.
Date: Fri, 4 Feb 2000 12:42:22 EST

I'm trying to find any vital records on the family of Conrad BODENSTEIN and
Janette (or Jeanette) ROPP. Both individuals were b. in Germany. Their
daughter, Josephine BODENSTEIN, was my g-grandmother. She was b. in Monroe
Co., Mar 1857. I know nothing more about Janette ROPP; and what little
information I have on Conrad BODENSTEIN comes from his daughter's death
certificate and his Civil War military records:
He was b. abt. 1832, Germany.
He was a moulder by trade and enlisted in Co. G, 108th Regiment, NY
Infantry
9 Aug 1862.
Much of his tour of duty was spent in various military hospitals,
including one in
Rochester, with "inflammation of the lungs" -- which I
interpret to be either
tuburculosis or asthma.
I have no further information about him after his muster-out date of 28
May1865.

I would be most appreciative if anybody in Monroe Co. could assist me.

Best Regards,
