Subject: Orphanage Records - Roch.

HI,

In a will dated June 26, 1861 a bequest was made to the "Protestant Orphan
Asylum, the Home of the Friendless", Rochester, NY; by a Lucy Bicknell, wife
of Caleb H. Bicknell.

They adopted a little boy [prob. from there] after the 1855 State Census as
the child, "George Chase Bicknell" is listed in the 1860 Census, 3rd ward
Roch. This child was b. after the 1850 census, or 1851, Niagara Co., NY. I
am trying to find out what happened to his parents. Isaiah Chase,and
Patience Williams Chase. This family moved between NIagara Co. and Sweden,
Monroe Co. all the time.

Can anyone tell me when this orphanage went out of business and if any
records were retained anywhere.
