There are two ways that you can get the file:
1) All Revolutionary War pension files have been microfilmed. You can
order the film through a local LDS FHL. Most large genealogy libraries
would also have it.
2) Order a copy of the file directly from the National Archives and Records
Administration:
a) Send an email to and request NATF Form 80. You can
request up to 6 copies. Be sure that you include the word "Form" somewhere
in the body of your email and that you include your name and address. Also
request a copy of GIL-7, which describes the types of files available.
b) NATF is fairly self-explanatory, include all of the required information
and as much other requested information as possible. You will get
"selected" pages (usually at least 10) for $10.00. If you want the whole
file you must say so in advance and pay a higher fee. You will not be
charged if no file is found.

Subject: Rev War Pension denied
Hello List,
I have found that Eli GRIFFITH applied for, and was denied a
pension for having served during the Revolutionary War. He was living
in Gates Twp (Monroe) NY when he applied.
This places him in the same area as his daughter Triphenia, who
married Leonard STIMPSON, and is my 1st proof of him on paper. How
can I get copies of these applications, and get the dates and
information contained in them?
Have been unable to find "any" cemetery, death, or Estate
information on my STIMPSON, GRIFFITH, HALL, or KINGSLEY families from
this area.
Thanks,
Sherry Morell Shelts
