I found one for my relative from 1924 by contacting the Rochester Public
Library who has The Rochester Democrat and Chronicle Newspaper going back
that far. Seems that was the major paper and your obit would probably have
been put there. I had a death date, which makes it very easy. Don't know
how they'd handle the one you only have a year for. The charge for a copy to
be sent to me was quite nominal - $5, if I remember correctly.

I didn't keep their website address, but it was quite easy to find through a
search engine.
