Dear Margaret,

I spent about an hour and-a-half looking for information on your Gillette
family this afternoon. What I did was look up birth certificates on
Gillettes for the city of Rochester and some other places in Monroe County
close to Rochester. I began with the year 1900 and went through 1913. I
looked for both Gillette and Gillett names. Here are the findings:

1900: Nov 11 in Rochester Gillette, George A. #43894

1901: none

1902: Gillette, male June 8, Greece NY #21934

1903: Gillett, male Rochester, October 5, #39231
Gillette, female, Fairport NY, Dec 21 #48338
Gillette, female, Rochester, October 29, #42036
Gillette, Percival L. July 14, Rochester, #14868 (Percival later
became a lawyer in Rochester)

1904: Gillette, female, Greece NY, November 17, #46696

1905: Gillette, male May 16, Greece NY, #21015

1906: none.

1907: none.

1908: Gillette, female Fairport, January 12, #1875
Gillette, Julia September 21, Rochester, #43249

1909: Gillette, Annett L. December 17, Rochester #58353

1910: none

1911: Gillette, male Rochester, May 29, #38800
Gillette, Stephan E. Rochester, October 26, #59907

1912: none.

1913: Gillett, Lawrence J. Lyons NY October 13

I also tried to find a marriage for Albert Gillette and Mae Yost and was
unsuccessful. Here is what I did find:

1900: none.

1901: Albert Gillette August 12, Frankfort NY #14704 , however, this
Albert apparently did not marry Mae Yost.
George P. Yost, Rochester, June 18, #10689

1902: Clarence A. Gillette Rochester, June 3 #9575. I thought this might
be your Albert (because of the middle initial) but again he did not marry Mae
Yost.

1903: none

1904: Leonard N. Gillette Dec 12, Rochester #26751

1905: none.

I also took a look at the City directories beginning in 1904-5 and 1905-6.
There were no Alberts listed for those years. Perhaps they were living in
Greece, NY where Mae was born?

In 1907-8 a Albert Gillett, shoemaker, shows up boarding at 109 Broadway. He
is living with Frederick Gillett, mason, who owns the house.

To add to the confusion, by 1910-11 there appear to be TWO Albert Gillettes:

Albert F. Gillette, shoemaker, 159 Exchange St, bds. 109 Broadway
Albert Gillette, carpenter, house 539 Avenue A.

1920-21: Gillette, Albert (May C.) carpenter. h. 91 Seventh St.
Gillette, Albert F. shoemaker 499 Benton

1921-22 Albert (May C.) carpenter h. 520 Central Park.

After this date I no longer find Albert and May Gillette.

Hopefully, the above will be useful information. Happy hunting.

Best Regards,

Patricia Stillwell Mims
Rochester, NY
