Yes, you can get them from NY State. The Vital Records Index starts in 1880 (as long as were not talking about Buffalo - they start in 1914). If the marriage is listed in the index, the certificate # is given along with the location. If you request
info from the state, the backlog is about 1 year. It would probably be better to determine the location from the index and try to track it from there. The certificate # listed probably won't match the local records, so just supply the location and
time frame to the local researchers.
