I am a 5th removed generation from Timothy Hart and am very interested in finding out as much as I can about my "Hart" relatives. My father was Wilford Crawford Hart and his pedigree follows:Charles C. Hart, William C. Hart, William B. Hart & Timothy T. Hart. My wife & I just returned from Colorado where we learned quite a bit about William C. and his family. We learned about William B & Timothy from the same book that Linda Washbourne did (we found the article at the Salt Lake City Family Library). William C.and his first wife, Ida Harriet McLain, lived for 40 years in Manitou Springs, CO and are buried at Fort Collins, CO. I found your information while I was checking Phoebe Dewey's (William B.'s wife) Ancestry. Com message board . We are very interested in finding out as much as we can about these relatives. Linda mentioned an obituary for a grandson of William B. - do you know who he was? We got a certified death certificate for William C. Hart and to our surpri!
se we saw that there was an amendment made in 1979 (33 years after his death!!) that his name was actually William Crawford, not William Clinton! Crawford is my father's middle name. We had been told that it was a family name, but we had no idea where it came from. The amendment gave as proof a genealogy-Dewey Publication of Westfield, Mass in 1898 and William B.'s obituary printed in the Woodstock, Il, Daily Sentinel on 2/24/1911. Have you heard anything about this? We're wondering why an amendment was so important. We would be so grateful for any help you can give us.
Sincerely,
Stan & Delight Hart
