GEORGE A. BENTON NOMINATED

Result of the Republican Convention Yesterday Afternoon.

The result of the first ballot for a candidate for coroner in the Republican
County Convention was given in the 4 o'clock edition of the Union yesterday
afternoon, the vote standing: BENTON 62, TAYLOR 59, KIE(B or H)EL 43,
CHAMBERLAIN 6, SNELL 5. A number of ballots were taken with no decided change, but
before the secretaries had announced the result of the Tenth the chairman of
the Eleventh, a ward which never fails to distinguish itself, rose and
transferred the delegation from KIEHL to BENTON. This was a signal for a general
break from KIEHL to BENTON, and the latter was nominated easily. There was then
some dispute as whether a KIEHL or a TAYLOR delegate should have the honor of
moving to make the nomination of BENTON unanimous. The bad feeling which
prevailed showed itself in the shape of hisses and yells. Mr. BENTON stepped to
the platform and thanked the delegates in a few words.

Spencerport, occurred at 3 o'clock this morning. He attended the fair at Brockport

difficulties with which he had been suffering, caused his death. He had kept the
LINCOLN House in Spencerport for thirty-five years, and a more generous,
