Subject: Whitehead School, District 6? Benjamin Whitehead (1783-1859)

My family of Whiteheads lived in Penfield in the 1820-1870 time period.
Most of them came on to Branch County, Michigan 1840-1870. I was looking
through Penfield's Past by Katherine Wilcox Thompson, page 67, which shows a
photo of the Whitehead School, District 6. Does anyone know who the school
was name after? Does the school still exist? The farthest back I can
document my family is Benjamin S. Whitehead, born Sept. 28, 1783 in Weston,
CT. He had 10 children by his first wife Polly Smith and 2 more children by
his second wife Deborah Jonston. He is buried in Oakwood Cemetery,
Penfield, NY. His son, Benjamin S. Whitehead (1807-1879), a judge in
Penfield is also buried in Oakwood Cemetery. I would be glad to exchange
family information. Other related families are Jackson, Ellison, Cobb and
McConnell. Whitehead is also spelled Whithead in some references.
