There was a Howard Hemmerick, born July 1896, in Rochester in the 1900 census. He was the son of Earl and Catherine, both born Germany. Ancestry transcribed his middle initial as "L" but it isn't clear to me.

Howard may have been listed as "Robert" in both the 1920 and 1930 censuses in Rochester. There was a Robert Hemmerich married to Pearl in both censuses and they had a son named Norman (age 6) in 1930.
