You are right about Emeline - the information matches what my grandmother Fanny (Emeline's granddaughter) told me about her. Apparently she later changed the spelling of her name. She was still alive in 1904 for a photograph.
As far as Jacob goes - he might have been an inmate. According to Fanny, he was ruined during a depression in the 1890s and checked himself into the poorhouse, leaving the family on its own. Since getting some other information, I wondered if she actually meant Emeline's father, rather than husband, but Fanny was around when this happened.
