Thank you Carl for your research and reply. My Philomene was born on May 24, 1880, on L’Isle Verte. So, the "Philmone" you found is in the right time frame. Also, the spelling is too close to be coincidence. I found her son Henry in the 1910 data living with Carl and Clara Potter in Rochester, foster parents I suppose. Her husband Horace was living in Lowell, MA with his sister while their daughter's were in a Lowell orphanage. I always found it interesting that the census data column for his marital status did not indicate that he was widowed. Now I perhaps know why. Horace did remarry in 1914 in New Bedford, MA. Could the "Philmone" you found have ended up passing away between 1910 and 1914? Did the census data give any other detail about her? Is there anything special about the State Hospital in Rochester?

Again, thank you for your reply. E-mail can't convey how excited I was to see your response.... Steve
