In the mid-1870s the state started requiring counties to submit form for
those admitted to the poorhouse. That included the insane asylum, or at
least it did for Wayne County where one of my ancestors died. See:

from the New York State Library.

Was wondering if anyone knew if there were records available for the old
county insane asylum. Had an ancestor die while he was there in 1877, and
would like to gather some details.
