Deborah,
Here are the matches.
Gale Research. Passenger and Immigration Lists Index, 1500s-1900s [database
online]. Provo, Utah: MyFamily.com, Inc., 2003. Original data: Filby, P.
William, edit. Passenger and Immigration Lists Index, 1500s-1900s.
Farmington Hills, MI: Gale Research, 2003.

John Greensword;1749-1752 Halifax, N.S.

The duplicate entries are because there are different sources cited.
Anonymous. Records of Immigrants to Canada. [database on-line] Provo, UT:
Ancestry.com, 1999-.

Since you were writing to a NYC area list, I specifically searched
"greensword" and also "greensward" and got no matches in:
Ancestry.com. New York Passenger Lists, 1851-1891 [database online]. Provo,
Utah: MyFamily.com, Inc., 2003. Original data: New York. Passenger Lists of
Vessels Arriving at New York, New York, 1820-1897. Micropublication M237.
Rolls # 95-580 . National Archives, Washington, D.C.
I believe Castle Gardens records are not available. When getting matches
from the immigration (ships) lists, I was able to see a list of names
(alphabetical order, age, port of origin, ship name, etc.), and later
viewed the film, which confirmed the family grouping.
