I'm trying to find death certificates for people who died anywhere between 1920 and 1960. They would have died in either Brooklyn or Manhattan. I'm new to NYC research, and it is daunting. I'm not even sure what county Manhattan is in. Are there any indexes for death records? Are they county specific or city wide?
