Per a search on google there are Fairlawn Cemeteries all over the
country...none in Manhattan but found one in Greene County, New York. Is it
possible the burial took place up there?

I missed where the death certificate was issued or where it said he
died....that could be a clue. Often if the cemetery is out of the immediate
area they will add a city etc.

There are only a handful or so of cemeteries that I know of in Manhattan.
Most are attached to churches and are very small and old.
