My gggrandfather, John Coleman Kalleen was born in May of 1848 in NY. Newspaper articles suggest he was born and schooled in NYC. I got the birth date from a census report of which says same as birth place and his parents were born in Ireland. Marriage certificate for him says his parents were Andrew and Mary Kalleen. This certificate from Canada also said he was living in Hamilton NY at time of marriage. I have tried searching using many different variations of spelling this name and can find nothing on his parents in NY. The marriage certificate also says he was of Wesleyan Methodist religion, so maybe I can locate baptism records for him. He has been a mystery to all because he was so hush-hush about his family. One of his daughters child is still living at 92 and sharp as a tack, and says her Mother had conjured up many visions of him being from an outlaw family and changed his name because he would not talk about them. He was very religious so can only hope his parents !
had him baptised. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Mary
