St. Francis Xavier is a Jesuit Parish that has been on W. 16th Street for many, many years. Perhaps it was located on 20 th Street at one time.

If you check the website for the Archdiocese of NY, I am sure you will find it listed and perhaps even a link to their website.

Had to go to the Archives today, so I checked the 1895 city directory for NYC. There's a whole section just for churches. Didn't find a church at 20 W. 16th, but did find one at 36 W. 20th. It was St. Francis Xavier, pastor; Thomas J. Campbell, James Dowd, sexton.
