I frequently quote from a genealogy manual which is kind of out-of-date, and I'm kind of out-of-date too. The manual is "Genealogical Resources in the New York Metropolitan Area," edited by Estelle M. Guzik, published in 1989.

Page 63 is in the chapter devoted to the Municipal Archives, located in Manhattan. All it says is : "Coroner's Records : The records, including inquests and records of deaths, span the years 1823-1918, but are not available for all boroughs in each year."

Page 66 says these records are not indexed, but the records are in chronological arrangement.
