Is this 17th Ward different from the Brooklyn 17th Ward? If not, I have
transcribed the Brooklyn (Greenpoint) 17th Ward in it's entirety and can do
a lookup for your people.

While trying to locate my Marshall and Walker ancestors in New York, I've
run up against a real brick wall in the 1855 census--the 17th ward has not
been filmed by the LDS Genealogical Library. Does anyone know whether the
record has been microfilmed at all or where I can find the originals. The
family lived in either election district 5 or 6. I checked with the New
York State Genealogical Society--it does not research census records. Is
there someone who does? By the way, I just checked the LDS microfilm for
Ward 11. It is terribly water-damaged. Election districts 1 through 4 are
largely unreadable, 5 through 9 are pretty clear with nice handwriting and
10 is readable but the handwriting is attrocious.
