Tom,

We must have a family connection. My mother's mother was a Muzzio from NYC Baxter St. She met my father in Louisville, KY while visiting relatives (Klausing) in Louisville in the 1930's. Mrs Klausing was my mother's relative, but I have not bothered to find out her maiden name and how they are connected, only that there is some connection to Mazzoni's Oyster Bar - a landmark in Louisville. I have photos of Mrs. Klausing and a women who I believe is her mother. I look just like them!

I traveled to Pietranera, Rovegno, Liguria just after 9/11. Beautiful little town! I saw a women who is a dead-wringer for one of my sisters, and my looks fit right in! It amazed me that the genes were that strong after 3 more generations! The oldest graves with current headstones were from the late 1880's, so I could not make a direct connection, but they had photos which were great. There is a church built by the Muzzio family there. Have you ever seen the 1930's movie "Heidi" with Shirley Temple? The town looks just like the scenes of where the grandfather lived.

Did you know there is a Ligurian Society in NYC? They may be able to provide more information on migration. I contacted them because we have a photo of my ggrandfather in his Union uniform with all of his sharp-shooter medals. Also, there is a discussion group at Yahoo for genealogy in N. Italy that was very helpful. I can't find the address.

Keep in touch.
Priscilla
