1. Can someone tell me if the New York *State* death index (which is
available at the New York State Archives, at the National Archives in
Manhattan, and at some upstate libraries) is cumulative? That is, is
there a separate index for each year, or a combined index for several
years? I'm particularly interested in the indexes for the 1950s.

2. Why is the New York State death index not available on microfilm
through LDS family history centers, as the New York City death index
is? Their being unavailable is a problem for family history researchers
who do not live in New York.
