Hi Kathleen. Yes, I have found the Census information you provided here, but very much appreciate your taking the time to look it up and present it. Thanks. I will print your version here though since it is helpful in this format! Concerning your comment about the different birth years and the Eleanor/Elnora spellings, I found that very interesting too. It seems pretty clear that these are the same people, and still amazes me as a genealogy "newbie" that 150 years ago people were still fibbing about their ages!
FYI, I have hit a wall trying to trace their origins in Ireland. I keep sending Ancestry money and have searched all of the Ireland to NY ships but no luck. Even tried Ireland to Boston as someone mentioned that the Irish mainly immigrated there.
As you can see, from the children's ages it looks like they came over between maybe 1843 and 1847 or so.
I sent emails to about 4 Ireland-based prof'l generalogists. Three were no replies and one is busy until July. I contacted 4-5 NY-based pros and none have returned calls or emails. Weird. Don't mean to vent, just putting this out there in case you have any thoughts.
Best regards, Bill Goble.
