Apparently the 3 employees who inherited the business, Messrs. Cook, Kohler and Hauck, didn't do a very good job of it.

The following auction notice appeared in the NY Times on November 9, 1919:

BANKRUPT SALE
Well known collection of paintings, consisting of Harnetts, Wrights, and others; also mahogany fixtures of the late Theodeore Stewart, will be sold at auction at 8 Warren St., New York, on Nov. 12-19, 10:30am.
Open for exhibition, Nov, 10, 11, between 10:00am and 3:00 pm
Percival Wilds, Trustee, 2 Rector St., N.Y., N.Y.
