I just returned from NYC and visiting my family. I was also looking into the neighborhoods of my grandparents. I did find my grandfather's building on Broome Street. The Tenement Museum is a must for anyone who can trace their family to the Lower East Side. It is a gem. It really gets the mind thinking of how they survived the winters, summers, street gangs, hunger, etc. But the new world must have held much hope!! These people really were pioneers to the new world.
