Jim, the question about sources was from me, Mary. (Jim's signature appears automatically, as list administrator; it can be a little confusing.)

Is your objective simply to identify the addresses of these businesses?

In an index extract from an 1896 NY Times is the phrase

"... York agents are Busk Jevons of 201 Product ..."

In a 1915 NYC directory I find:

Lamport & Holt Line 301 Produce Ex

I don't know what "Ex" means in the address. Perhaps "Exchange."


There is quite a bit of information in the various newspaper collections available through subscription.
